Machine tools hold their value best when buyers can see how they were run and maintained. Whether you're selling one CNC lathe or clearing an entire machine shop, the details that matter most are control type, spindle hours if known, tooling included, and whether the machine is still under power.
What we look at
- Control system and software version (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, Mazatrol, etc.) — buyers often search by control before anything else.
- Whether the machine is currently running production, idle but operational, or has been disconnected.
- Included tooling, fixtures, chucks, and vises — these can meaningfully affect interest even when unpriced separately.
- Rigging and access: floor load, ceiling height, doorway clearance, and whether a crane or forklift pickup is required.
- Maintenance history and any known issues — buyers weigh a documented history heavily against unknown condition.
What buyers typically ask
